The name of this scenic town comes from the tree lined hills that rest just beyond the city. You will find Thousand Oaks midway between Santa Barbara and Los Angeles and just 12 miles from the Pacific Ocean. Hikers love the area due to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area trails.

In addition, you can wander through Conejo Valley Bontanical Park to observe a variety of different plant life. Even better; admission is free. If you happen to be a history buff, you will most certainly want to visit Chumash Interpretive Center, which offers information about the first inhabitants of the region. Mission Viejo, California

Newton, Massachusetts

Newton, Massachusetts is not only one of the safest cities in the country; it is also a diverse and extremely unique city located on the outskirts of Boston.
