Using Feng Shui to Set up your Office Furniture

Setting up an office, whether it is at home or away from home, does not have to be boring. Since the majority of people spend most of their week in their offices, it only make sense to select your office furniture and position it in such a way that you will be able to get the most benefit from it.

The principles of Fen Shui are a great technique to utilize that will allow you to set up your office furniture in a manner to reduce negative energy flow in your office. This helps to promote a clear mind and enables better decision making abilities.

Positioning your Office Desk

Begin by positioning your office desk so that you will be able to have clear sight of the door. Not only will you be able to see who is entering your office, but it will also provide you with added protection and security in your office as well.

Try to leave as much space as possible between your office furniture, such as your desk and your bookshelves, filing cabinet, etc as well as the wall. Ideally, it is best to leave about an 8 inch gap between your office furniture and the wall.

Seating Arrangements and Feng Shui

Seating arrangements in an office are always nice for holding impromptu meetings are welcoming clients and guests. When arranging chairs and sofas in your office, it is best to try to arrange them in a triangle that faces your desk. This positions your office desk as the center of power in the room. Office chairs should be facing one another slightly in order to enhance the positive flow of energy in the room. This arrangement of office furniture also encourages comfortable conversation as well as a positive information exchange between yourself and your guests or clients.

Eliminating Clutter through Storage Systems

It is also important to eliminate as much clutter as possible from your office. You will be better able to find what you need as well as reduce negative energy flow. Remember that there is a difference between storage and clutter. For items that you need to have on hand, consider purchasing a cupboard for your office. Another item that would work well is a bookshelf or shelving unit on which you can place baskets or bins. These are ideal for holding small items that might otherwise create a sense of clutter.

Bright colors, particularly red, are important components of Feng Shui. Red is favored by the Chinese as a color for prosperity. If you have a choice among different colors for office furniture and accessories, try choosing bright colors. These colors will help to keep you energized as well as stimulate creativity.

After applying the basics of Feng Shui to your office, you should find that your working space is much cleaner and neater with fewer distractions. As a result, you should enjoy more productivity and creativity for an enhanced business and career.

I am so pleased to read this! I am sitting on the sofa in my home office. The carpet is a sort of pale brick colour (almost red!) and this colour is echoed in my desk chair and the plaid curtains. The desk faces the corner, but when I am seated there, I can see out the door. Somehow, I achieved good feng shui without trying!

Thanks for an intereseting hub.
